Cordillera eyes rehab of 3 rivers
The Cordillera Regional Development Council (RDC) and the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) are planning to rehabilitate the Agno River, Cagayan River, and the Abra River.
The RDC and the RPOC submitted the climate responsive integrated master plan to Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Roy Cimatu.
The master plan is estimated to cost P101 billion for 15 years.
Included in the master plan are water resources and watershed management, disaster risk reduction and hazard management, wetland management, and economic and institutional development in for the three river basins.
The climate responsive integrated master plan aims to address natural hazards such as rain-induced landslides, floodings, and drought.
