Baguilat on Duterte’s ‘very good’ satisfaction rating: Congrats but…

Apr 12, 2018 @ 19:20

Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat Jr. congratulated President Rodrigo Duterte for his “very good” satisfaction rating based on a Social Weather Stations survey, but said it was only to be expected in a President’s first few years on the job.

He said Duterte’s predecessor, Noynoy Aquino, also got a 68 percent gross satisfaction rating in the first quarter of 2012, comparable to Duterte’s 70 percent gross rating in the first quarter of 2018.

“Congratulations. In perspective, its par for the course during the 1st years of a President. During PNOY’s administration and during a comparable SWS survey, PNOY got a 68% gross satisfaction rating in the 1st quarter of 2012,” he said.

The Magnificent 7 lawmaker, however, said “It doesnt mean that everyone agrees w/ the President’s position particularly on Martial law and EJKs.”

“But as a populist President and someone who is adept at skirting accountability from the miscues of his officials, that rating is expected prior to mid-term,” he added.

“More impactful to discuss anti political dynasty in terms of political reform. But with the process of CHACHA going through ConAss, I doubt the proposal for term limits and anti Pol Will survive,” Baguilat said.
