Baguilat: Were 2 ex-Customs officials appointed to DOTr to keep them quiet on P6B smuggling?
Ifugao Rep. Teddy Brawner Baguilat Jr. said President Rodrigo Duterte’s decision to appoint two former Customs officials accused of involvement in the P6.4-billion shabu mess to the Department of Transportation showed his anti-corruption drive is only lip service.
Baguilat said, referring to Milo Maestrecampo and Gerardo Gambala.
The two former Magdalo members, who had been recruited by former Customs commissioner Nicanor Faeldon until they figured in the shabu smuggling fiasco, were given posts in the transportation department.
“Perhaps it’s a way to silence them from spilling the beans on who are the real masterminds of the shabu smuggling,” Baguilat said.
“Hanggang ngayon wala pa rin nanagot dito,” he said.
